Grantmaking Professionals Virtual Meetup 5/12

WHEN
Wednesday, May 12, 2021, 12:00pm – 1:30pm EDT

12-1:30pm ET/ 9-10:30am PT/7-8:30pm Israel

The next few JFN Grantmaking Professionals Monthly Online Convenings will explore the topic of conflict. We live in a time of pervasive political, social, and cultural conflict. While this conflict affects many sectors, it is particularly taxing for civil society, which plays a traditional role in strengthening associational bonds. Yet not all conflict is bad, and sometimes it is necessary to address festering problems. How should grantmaking professionals think about societal and communal conflict from our unique vantage points? What can we do to navigate the (sometimes necessary) conflict in the Jewish communal world, within our grantee portfolios, and within our own institutions? And what skills, tools, and techniques will better equip us for this conflictual moment?

At this session, we will be joined by Tim Phillips, founder and CEO of Beyond Conflict, for a conversation about the nature of contemporary conflict. We will consider our own views about, and roles in, conflict and begin to consider how we might better navigate these treacherous waters. As always we will have plenty of time for small group discussion and fellowship.
