The delegitimization of Israel on college campuses has a silencing effect and creates a hostile environment in which Jewish students and faculty members are sometimes afraid to express their identity and support for Israel. Non-Jewish students and faculty are not always well educated about the Middle East, and often prefer to avoid a toxic discussion.
