Background:

The Jewish Funders Network works with Jewish funders at the individual and collective levels to improve the quality of their giving and maximize their impact as they make the change they want to see in the world. JFN leverages the power and the creativity of networks to produce change in the Jewish World.

The Role:

The Senior Manager, Philanthropic Engagement (MPE) is a new, full-time, external-facing position who will work to cultivate new members, retain existing ones, and offer value for membership. We are looking for someone who enjoys growing relationships and networks. As part of this effort, the MPE will create and foster JFN’s Young Funder base, through programming and engagement. The MPE will report to the Vice President of Philanthropic Engagement (VP), and is based in NYC in the office Mon.-Thurs. and remote work on Fridays.

The MPE has two primary responsibilities:

1. Membership recruitment and retention: Together with the VP, develop and implement a membership recruitment strategy as well as work with existing members to serve their needs
2. Young funders: Develop and cultivate a young funder ethos within JFN by providing effective and nuanced programming for JFN’s young funders._

Specific tasks include:

Membership recruitment and retention (50%):

The MPE will serve within the Philanthropic Engagement department and bring his/her organizational, strategic and interpersonal skills to bear. Specific responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

• Individual Member Engagement.
• Member support and stewardship through individual outreach to existing members via phone, email, Zoom, and in person, when possible.
• Small group meetings and “fireside chats.”
• Cultivation of new members.
• Work with the Membership Committee to establish organization-wide goals vis-à-vis membership engagement.
• Planning and participating in local and regional conferences (virtual and in-person).
• Planning and participating in other networking events and programs.
• Attend and support the annual conference.

Young funders (50%):

• Establish a peer network for young funders within the JFN ecosystem that meets on a regular basis and that includes both virtual and in-person events.
• Conceive of and implement young funder programming year round and at the annual JFN international conference.
• Increase membership among the younger funding community

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years’ experience in program facilitation, management and/or fundraising.
• Expertise with relationship management and community building.
• Comfort working with wealthy individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of the Jewish philanthropic and non-profit sectors.
• Comfort with (or facility to learn about) different types of content areas.
• Willingness to travel about once every other month and work occasional evenings.
• Group facilitation experience and/or certification a plus.
• Team player with a positive attitude who executes efficiently.
• A self-starter who can design and manage multiple programs, projects, and deadlines.

  Salary range is $75,000-$80,000 based on experience. Full benefits are provided.
