Over $2 billion in contributions was allocated to causes in Israel through American Jewish nonprofits and foundations in 2007. As donations through the federation framework have declined in the past two decades, this area of philanthropy has seen a tremendous growth. Using IRS data, Eric Fleisch and Theodore Sasson examine the current and historical philanthropic relationship between the US and Israel.
