Re-thinking the context and framing of Jewish education to meet the needs of today's learners
Bethamie Horowitz, Jeffrey Kress and Jonathan Woocher lead a discussion with members of the Peer Network for Funders of Jewish Education on Jewish education philanthropy, challenging funders to think beyond traditional assumptions and ideas on Jewish education. Horowitz shares the new realities and changing ideas about Jewish identity, education and assimilation, and Kress shares on assimilation and Jewish education as a broad-based growth process. Conversations focused on ways to define Jewish identity, the necessity to prepare today's young Jews for a world of choice, and implications on their grantmaking, all with a focus on the importance of incorporating opportunities for reflection in Jewish education programming.
