This event has been postponed while we support our family and friends in Israel. The municipal elections have been postponed as well. We will provide an update as soon as possible.
At the end of October, Israelis go to the polls again. This time however, it’s the municipal and regional elections, and while not as headline grabbing as the national elections, the issues at the local level can and do have a dramatic effect on the daily lives of Israel’s citizens. Additionally, local politics can positively influence the national political landscape.
Given the judicial reform/democracy crisis going on in Israel however, this year’s local elections are taking on an outsized role, with some municipalities and mayors openly defying the national government. This is aggravated by the violence that is plaguing the Arab community in Israel with local candidates being targeted, and some even being murdered.
Join us as we explore the elections. What are they? Who’s involved? How the municipalities relate to the national government and what’s at stake?
