Can engaging with Jewish texts fuel your creative process? That's the central premise behind CANVAS grantee LABA’s Jewish artist fellowship program, and a question we will put to the test together during our next Matters of the Art session. 

Please join us for an illuminating, hands-on investigation of a traditional text with LABA director Ronit Muszkatblit and renowned author and teacher Ruby Namdar. We’ll also welcome twoLABA fellows who will share work inspired by this unique and reverential process. 

Speakers:

Ruby Namdar is an Israeli writer. His novel "The Ruined House" won the Sapir Prize, Israel’s most prestigious literary award. He currently teaches Jewish literature in New York.

Ronit Muszkatblit is a multidisciplinary, award-winning theater director. She is the founding director of LABA Global and leads the Arts & Culture program at the 14th Street Y. 

Rachel Libeskind is an artist and a thinker whose work focuses on shifting perspectives of history. She is a LABA alum and currently the Creative Director of LABA Berlin.  

Ben Kaplan is a writer, educator, and opera librettist based in New York City.
