To celebrate Shavuot, JFN convenes leading thinkers and legal activists to examine the intersection of law and philanthropy. Over the course of 90 minutes, we’ll hear from Suzanne Last Stone on the Jewish understanding of law and its role in society; Amy Spitalnick on the use of civil litigation to hold accountable — and bankrupt and dismantle — violent extremists; and Ken Marcus on the use of law and public policy to combat the resurgence of antisemitism in American higher education.

Speakers:

Suzanne Last Stone
University Professor of Jewish Law and Contemporary Civilization
Yeshiva University

Amy Spitalnick
Executive Director
Integrity First for America (a civil rights nonprofit that is backing the plaintiffs in a landmark federal lawsuit against the neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and hate groups responsible for the Charlottesville violence).

Ken Marcus
Founder and Chair, Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law
Former Assistant, U.S. Secretary of Education for Civil Rights
