Few artists in Israel make an adequate living from their work in routine times, and even more so in times of emergency and uncertainty. In this session we will get to know the complexities and opportunities in developing sustainable livelihoods for artists from three angles: promote artists' policies and rights to encourage art production, promote collaborations to support evacuated artists, and community initiatives adapted to the situation which expand artists' livelihood opportunities. Speakers: Dorit Zinger, CEO of the Plumas Foundation and Revital Ben-Asher Peretz, Policy Leader for Artists' Rights, Association of Plastic Artists : Cooperation to Promote Artists' Rights in Israel and Salary Payment. Limor Sarfati Max, Artist and founder of the Envelope Artists Emergency Headquarters, Umm Culture – Promoting and supporting artists and challenges in developing the field of art as a source of livelihood for the community of evacuated artists. Yair Vardi, Artistic Director, Southern Festival of Multidisciplinary Art in Ofakim and Head of the Creators Track in the Department of Creative Culture and Production at Sapir Academic College – How cultural entrepreneurship, community, and city-based festivals create sustainable avenues for artists in times of crisis.
