ROur city’s Jewish demographic
study
published in 2021 revealed that one in five Jewish households are financially barely getting by
. Since the study, our human services agencies have shared reports of significant increases in need from Jewish clients including mental health services, housing assistance, food insecurity and so on.
While our agencies work tirelessly to meet demand, we know for many families this economic vulnerability impacts both their basic needs and ability to engage in Jewish life.
On March 26th, JFN is gathering funders in Los Angeles for a discussion on: - Data
What we learned about economically vulnerable Jews in the 2021 survey and what we are seeing on the financial needs among Jews today. Learning to Inform Grant Making:
How agencies are responding, what the gaps are, and what innovative solutions are making an impact for families, seniors, young adults, kids and individuals who are experiencing vulnerability. - Connecting + Sharing: Intentional time for funders to share about their investments in addressing Jewish poverty, raise questions about how to approach the issue, and talk about next steps.
If there’s another philanthropist who may be interested in engaging in this discussion, we’d love to know.
Tuesday, March 26th, 11am-1:30pm
Location: Jewish Community Foundation Los Angeles, (6505 Wilshire Blvd) has generously offered their space
Kosher lunch and refreshments served
We hope this will be the catalyst for many more much needed conversations on the topic.
