For generations, American women have relied on the U.S. judicial system to safeguard their civil and human rights. Yet in recent years, a wave of court rulings has chipped away at hard-won protections — from abortion access to transgender rights to safeguards against gender-based discrimination and harassment. Join JFN's North America-based Gender Lens Philanthropy Peer Network for an inside look at how philanthropy can power legal advocacy to defend these rights. We are honored to feature Lisa Eisen, Co-President of Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies, who will share her perspective as a philanthropic leader committed to advancing gender equity. Lisa will be joined by legal experts and advocates who are on the front lines of two unfolding cases: A multi-state lawsuit challenging new federal restrictions on “gender ideology” under the Violence Against Women Act. Legal challenges by Jewish women arguing that state abortion bans violate their religious liberty.
Speakers - Darcy Hirsh, Senior Director, Government Relations and Advocacy at the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW)
- Alexandra Lehman, Legislative Associate at NCJW
- Lauren Khouri, Senior Director of Workplace Equality at the National Women's Law Center
- Lisa Eisen, Co-President, Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies
