We know, as the contemporary adage goes, that representation matters. In the February meeting of JFN's Gender Lens Philanthropy Peer Network, we will take up a key finding in the recent Atra study of the rabbinic pipeline suggesting a significant rise in the percentage of rabbinical students identifying as women and as LGBTQ+. We will also expand this lens to consider the history, current state, and possible futures of gender and leadership in Jewish communal life, and what philanthropy can do to amplify underrepresented voices and ensure that communal leaders reflect and represent the communities they serve.
