JFN Joins Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition
Thursday, September 15, 2022
Jewish Funders Network is proud to announce that we are a founding member of the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition (JCLC). Major Jewish organizations are coming together to launch this coalition that recognizes the existential threat and moral urgency of climate change and are committed to taking action. To date, 20 major national and international Jewish organizations have signed onto the Coalition Founding Statement, demonstrating broad consensus that the Jewish community is ready and capable of taking collective climate action. We invite and encourage you to become a member of this Coalition too. In the coming weeks and months, you will be hearing more about JFN's specific climate plan. Long-term, as part of the Coalition, JFN and the North American Jewish community will mobilize our collective power in order to combat the worst effects of climate change. Coalition efforts are being led by Hazon and will include resource mobilization, identifying replicable ideas, and accelerating the pace of change. Learn more and see the list of signatories here. "We're excited to be part of this much-needed communal response to climate change, and we're looking forward to working both internally, and with our many members, to reduce our carbon footprint and build a better future," said JFN Executive Vice President Rabbi Rebecca Sirbu. JFN also addresses climate change by offering free consultations to funders seeking advice on environmental funding and through its Green Funders Forum, a forum made up of funders and professionals at philanthropic foundations who share a common interest in environmental issues. Attend Green Funders Forum's next program on Monday, September 19, at 12 p.m. ET. The Forum meets four to six times a year, bringing together dozens of funders and foundation representatives from Israel and overseas with experts from academia, the government, and the philanthropy sector for sessions of learning, sharing, consultation, and skill-building in various subjects related to environmental protection in Israel and beyond. To learn more or to schedule a free consultation on your environmental funding, email gil@jfunders.org. Watch Green Funders Forum videos here.
