Amy Schlussel has spent the past 18 years deeply involved in strengthening Jewish day schools, building meaningful relationships, and advancing philanthropic partnerships that create lasting impact. For 15 years, Amy served as Director of Advancement at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit. She also simultaneously served as Director of Admission for 13 years, overseeing year-over-year enrollment growth following a 20-year decline. Amy introduced new outreach efforts, refined the school’s value proposition, and helped drive initiatives that elevated academic excellence, affordability, capital improvements, and educational innovation. Her work played a central role in positioning Hillel as a thriving school with a strong local and national reputation. Throughout her tenure, Amy developed and implemented Hillel’s Advancement Model, relaunched and grew the endowment, and created new fundraising programs that energized the community. Under her leadership, the school raised more than $50 million, achieved record participation in the annual fund, and secured major capital and programmatic investments that shaped the school’s future. A thought leader in the field, Amy has presented nationally at NAIS and Prizmah, and has been published in HaYidion. She has also held key leadership roles within the Jewish Federation of Detroit, including Board Member, President of the Young Adult Division, and member of the Women’s Philanthropy Executive Committee. Her contributions have been recognized with the Sylvia Simon Greenberg Award and the AJC Leadership Award. With a background in law and nearly two decades of experience guiding philanthropic strategy, Amy combines big-picture thinking with hands-on execution. She is deeply passionate about Jewish day schools and believes strongly in their critical role in shaping Jewish identity, continuity, and community. |
