Position Summary

The Director, Philanthropic Engagement – Northeast is a new, full-time role reporting to the Vice President, Philanthropic Engagement. JFN’s Philanthropic Engagement team works directly with our members by connecting them to each other, JFN’s resources, and the broader Jewish communal infrastructure, driving towards our goal of strengthening the network’s overall impact on the Jewish world.

The Director, Philanthropic Engagement – Northeast will be responsible for stewarding member relationships across the Northeast corridor, ensuring they feel connected, supported, and engaged. This role is highly relationship-driven and includes regular meetings with members and potential members and planning and executing local events, and will involve travel. Working collaboratively with Philanthropic Engagement team members across the country and globally, the person in this role will work to enhance the value of JFN membership by engaging directly with our members.

The ideal candidate for this role is solution-oriented and can creatively problem-solve. They are energized working with others and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. JFN is a fast-paced (and fun) organization and we often pivot directions based on member needs and external circumstances; the ideal candidate is entrepreneurial and leans into change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact and stewardship for a large segment of members across the Northeast, responding to inquiries and providing proactive, high-quality support.
  • Conduct regular virtual and in-person meetings with members to understand needs, priorities, and opportunities for deeper engagement; synthesize and share back knowledge gained of member priorities with broader team.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of regional gatherings and programs to support membership engagement and recruitment (e.g. small group meetings, cocktail events, “fireside chats”); manage logistics for these events.
  • Cultivate relationships with prospective members and support regional recruitment efforts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date member information in our CRM.
  • Coordinate with internal colleagues to ensure regional learnings inform broader strategy and recruitment.
  • Provide support to organization-wide events and other initiatives.
  • Other tasks as needed.

Travel Expectations

  • Travel throughout the Northeast region for meetings and events (approx. every 4-6 weeks).
  • Occasional travel to national events or team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in member engagement, donor relations, customer success, organizing, or related nonprofit roles; prior experience working in the Jewish community is considered an asset.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to connect authentically with diverse audiences.
  • Experience planning and executing in-person events.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Northeast.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with project management tools (Monday, Asana, etc.).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Google Workspace, Zoom, and member database systems/CRMs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • A problem-solver and solution-generator.

To Apply: JFN offers a competitive compensation and benefits program. Salary range is $110,000-$120,000 depending on experience. Applicants for this role must be based in the Northeast United States. If selected, candidates in New York will work from our JFN headquarters; candidates in other parts of the Northeast will work remotely.
